Tattoo Tuesday: The Vintage Stuff

I'm obsessed with tattoos. If they weren't so expensive, I'd have many more. Anyway, with obsession comes knowledge. I'm always studying the history of things I fancy. I was on Tumblr just looking at tattoo photos just because that's what I do, and stumbled upon this jewel...

Apparently, this is from the 1920's.
I love how they're all dapper with their comb overs, but plenty tatted.

Of course, this inspired me to look for more.

Righteous chest piece.
I'm assuming she's a pin up girl by the pose and everything.
This one is my favorite.
Mostly for that bustier she's wearing, but the photo is amazing too.

I might get into the habit of posting more vintage photos.

And remember...tattoos are forever.

IT'S TATTOO TUESDAY, AND YOU'RE OUR VALENTINE, DAMMIT!

It's like a Google doodle for your skin.

This tattoo signifies the lengths we will go to make you happy...
because we LOVE YOU...HARD!

Happy Valentines Day, Kids.
Love one another (a tad bit less intense than we love you),
and protect yourselves. You know what I mean.

IT'S TATTOO TUESDAY!

(featuring my dudette, Jasmine H.)

I know a lot of Jasmines, but she is one of the coolest.

This is Jasmine.
That awesome jasmine flower arrangement on her shoulder is her tattoo.
(Look at her trying to get her model on!)

She got her shoulder inked back in July. It's a garland of jasmines on Jasmine (*giggle to self). I have to say, this is a cool and unique place to put a floral tattoo.

It's like a permanent accessory.
It goes with everything.

Here's a closeup.
Look at the pretty awesome detail.

She also has a bonus tattoo she would like you guys to see...

Love it! Somebody trying to get their pinup on!

TATTOO TUESDAY: PIN UP EDITION

Lindsay's Playboy Cover. I love that chair,
and the retro style Photoshopping.

In mark of Lindsey Lohan's Playboy issue release (the cover above), despite the leak, I present you guys with my most favorite pin up tattoos.

By the way, I saw the spread, and it's pretty classy, in terms of nakedness. She's doing an homage to Marilyn Monroe, whom she's obsessed with. I get it, and it's cool. Go, Lindsay! Don't forget to just say no! You need to get back to being awesome.

Anyway, I've wanted a pin up for years, but I have yet to decide where this foxy lady should go. However, here are some great tattoos for inspiration:

A Betty Paige one.
I love her. Her hair is iconic.

Vargas girl tattoo.
Looks like it was painted on.

I love this pose, and the clever name.

I'm thinking my pin up is going to be a Betty Paige meets Dorothy Dandridge meets Lady Gaga (style wise) mash up. Great minds...

Tattoo Tuesday: The Adventure Time Obsession Club.

Adventure Time! C'mon and grab your friends. Let's all go to mystic lands. Jake the dog and Finn the human. The fun that never ends...Adventure Time!

It's Finn & Jake!
I want something simple like this one.
Yes, as you all can see, I am completely obsessed with Adventure Time. All of my friends know about it, and they think I'm crazy. What do they know, right? Anyway, to commemorate my love of Finn & Jake and The Land of Ooo, I want to get a tattoo. (That rhymed!)

I see others have beaten me to it, which is a good thing. I know what to expect if I decide to make this happen.

Here are some others I found:

Adventure Time sleeve (front).
Adventure Time sleeve (back).

Lady Rainicorn. She only speaks Korean. How cool is that?!
Hopefully by Christmas time, I will make a decision. I know this is for sure...I WILL be getting a tattoo before the month is over.

For more Adventure Time go to: Cartoon Network or Frederator.

It's Tattoo Turkey Day...I mean Tuesday!

My fourth favorite holiday is coming up on Thursday...you guessed it! Thanksgiving! Or as I like to call it, the last day of peace between the Native Americans and pilgrims before the pilgrims gave them syphilis and smallpox among other things, which is why I only celebrate this holiday for the food. However, let's not dampen the mood.

It's freaking Tattoo Tuesday!

To show how thankful I am for all you guys, here's a tattoo of a turkey.

Yum. I can just see him all basted now.

Happy Thanksgiving Guys!

It's Tattoo Tuesday! Connecting the Dots.

Check this...

Interactive body art is the future.

I'm not sure yet if this tattoo is cool or stupid. The people in my head are still debating this one. I like it because it's clever. It's like a mystery tattoo left up to those who want to figure it out. I like that. The fact that it's a giraffe is what's bothering me. Giraffes are cool as animals, but as tattoos...seriously?! Why couldn't it be something cool like Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force (I'm totally watching it right now!) or a bunny. Bunnies are way cooler as tattoos.

Basically, I think connect-the-dot tattoos are cool. I would do something like this. It's a convo starter. It gives people something to do when they see you. It's a great way to make friends and meet guys, which I always love. However, when they connect the dots, what would they get?

Hmm....

It's Tattoo Tuesday! Breakups Edition!

To mark this glorious day of the pending divorce between Kim K. and Kris H., let's go over the reasons why you should never get a bf, gf, man-friend, cutty-buddy, husband, or wife's name tattooed on your body. (Not that they did it, I hope.)

1. Just because you like someone doesn't mean that their name needs to be branded into your skin. Get them a real gift like a gift card to Macy's or a body wash set from Bath & Body Works.

2. Showing your love for someone by tattooing it on you doesn't mean it's going to last forever like the tattoo will, because just like that tattoo, one day you may have to remove the person you claimed to love so much six months ago.

3. If you haven't been dating and living together (simultaneously) long enough to be considered common law, then you need to consider getting a different tattoo like a skull or a bunny.

4. The divorce rate in America is like 1 in 2, which is 50% (maybe higher), so if you haven't been married for....to be on the safe side....for 3 years or more, don't even think about tattooing each other's names on your bodies. Marriages these days are fickle and fleeting. Within the year, you're back on the dating scene.

5. If he or she has cheated on you, doesn't matter how many times, DON'T DO IT!

6. If you've been engaged for longer than a year, and it's not because money is too tight for a wedding right now, but because maybe one of you is stalling, DON'T DO IT!

7. If you just met this person between yesterday and six months ago, married or unmarried, I know crazy sh*t happens in Vegas, but DON'T DO IT!

8. If your other half treats you like crap on the sidewalk, DON'T DO IT! A couple tattoo very rarely warms a cold heart.

9. If you want to put the tattoo somewhere you can hide it, THAT'S A SUBCONSCIOUS SIGN!!! HELLO!!! DON'T DO IT!

10. If you're the only one getting a COUPLE'S TATTOO, then DON'T DO IT! You're not going to be a couple for long, and you'll be the one who has to live with the result of it every day.

Just remember kids, love is awesome.

However, few loves last forever, but unfortunately (in this case), tattoos do.

Think before you ink.

It's Tattoo Tuesday! Robert De Niro Edition!

Okay, so, Muchacha Sucio saw Robert De Niro at Barnes & Noble on 3rd & 54th Street looking at Nooks, and it blew her mind. She tried to get next to him, but some idiot sales guy cock-blocked her from De Niro. RUDE!

So, in spirit of what could have been, I have these really awesome tattoos of Robert De Niro on other people's bodies. They're his biggest fans obviously.

De Niro in Heat. Great Film, BTW.

De Niro in Taxi Driver. Classic.
Done by Mike Devries

De Niro by Cecil Porter.
It could be from Goodfellas or
Godfather
. It could go either way.

Maybe if my friend had a De Niro tattoo, De Niro would have made the sales guy drop a deuce in his pants, or at the least, bought her a scone.

Just a thought.

It's Tattoo Tuesday! Did you miss us? Of Course You Did.

So, I decided to show one of my own for this week's installment.

If you know this drawing, you are an ace of spades in my book. Check it...

Isn't she lovely...of course she is.

Now, if you guessed that this is a tattoo of Picasso's Head drawing, congratulations! No, you didn't win a million dollars, but at least we all know how artistically cultured you are.

Anyway, here's the real thing...

Head by Picasso

So, Picasso is my most favorite artist of all time. He was so larger than life and versatile. He was above the movements and the genres. He is his own movement, his own genre. His paintings and ceramic sculptures move me to tears, but what I'm fascinated by the most are his serigraph drawings. They are so simple yet so complex. Some drawings are made from a single continuous line which blows my mind, but I mean, it's freaking Picasso!

He once said, "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child."

God love him.

I'm not 100% on who the woman is in this drawing that is now permanently branded into my arm, but she's quite beautiful as a Picasso. I want to believe that she was one of his great loves, Francoise Gilot, mother of Paloma (the fashionista jewelry designer, love her). It was made around their time together.

Anyway, I'm sure there will be more Picasso tattoos to come. If you have any tattoos by your favorite artist, and they're good, we want to see them. You could be featured. Excitement!

Things We Fancy: Tokidoki Barbie, whoa.

Everyone is in a frenzy over Ms. Perfect getting tatted up. I saw her on the Nylon Magazine website, and personally, I love her. Barbie is one of my idols (weird right?) and now, she has more tattoos than you and I combined. Pink hair! Not to mention a kick-ass dog in a really kick-ass cactus looking costume.

My Christmas list just got upgraded.

Due out in October, I have a feeling this is going to be like Missoni for Target all over again.

It's Tattoo Tuesday!

Today's post is brought to you by the letter M.

For Music.

Follow the flaming microphone chord...

...it leads to his heart. That's devotion.

This tattoo is simple yet very detailed. The heartbeat across the chest (I don't know the actual term. I'm not a doctor.) is very clever. However, what really strikes me is the input socket. Notice "input" instead of "output." Music gives him the energy. How deep you gotta be?

Once again, another really righteous tattoo done by the great Medusa.

Now, my next question is, does this now make him a robot?
See, I can be deep too.

It's Tattoo Tuesday! Creepy or Cute Edition

Check this out. Don't be scared.

Bejeweled, zombie panda bear.
It's a Day of the Dead (or Dia de los Muertos in Espanol) Panda Bear. Day of the Dead is where the people of Mexico celebrate their deceased love ones. It's celebrated on November 1st and 2nd every year. I found this tattoo on the inter-web, and I'm obsessed with it. I personally think it's cute (Pandas are my favorite.) with all the filigree and jewels, but the teeth freak me out. I don't remember panda bears having vampire teeth, but I don't have the best memory in the world right now. The lips creep me out as well like this panda had an allergic reaction to bamboo or something. But still, I am oddly fascinated with this tattoo.

Tattoo Tuesdays!

Starting something new. Tattoos every Tuesday. DOPE INK ONLY!

Lena Diva's Hand-print.
This week's featured tat is on none other than the other half of this blog, Ajia Z. On her hand is the hand-print of Lena Diva, her daughter/Youtube phenomenon.
Only great mom's get tattoos for there kids. My mom did. (I returned the favor.) Lena Diva's mom did, and it's righteous. This piece was done by the great Matron Medusa, the best tattoo artist in Mobile, maybe America. Why doesn't she have her own show? Kat Von Sleezebag had one, so unfair. I'm just saying. Friend her on Facebook, fools.

Until next time, send us your favorite tattoos on your body (nothing racist, gang-related, or just plain nasty), and you might just see it here along with our witty banter about it.
